What a nice phone!

My Thoughts on the BlackBerry Storm (My old phone):

I have been struggling with my Blackberry Storm ever since I bought it. I am an avid Microsoft Exchange user and like getting additional functionality out of my phone by obtaining apps and add-ons. Needless to say, the Blackberry Storm has always left something to be desired.

From the lack of native Exchange sync, to lack of HTML formatted emails, to the freezing, slowness and lack of prettyness with the interface as compared to other smartphones, it has just left me unimpressed.

HTC ERIS Droid Smartphone:

Very vibrant display. Much more vibrant than the storm. The graphics are very moderm are sleek. The screen moves with much ease and the menu system in general is very intuitive.

It has a nice feel in my hand, feels like quality plastic and the rubberized back makes it easy to handle as well.

The keyboard works very well too. I was a little hesitant about going with a non-hardware keyboard because of my disapoiontment with the Storm, but this has been very impressive so far. Easy to type without really concentrating on pressing exactly on the key or not.

The real deal maker for me has been the Microsoft Exchange Native Sync. I successfully setup a connection to my Excahange 2007 mailbox in under 60 seconds and all my messages, contacts and calendar started to populate immediately. And my messages look great too. No more conversion to Plain Text which was what the BlackBerry Prefessional Software (BPS Express) would do! I can't tell you how annoying it would be to have my outlook show everything in Plain Text.

Overall, I think this is a great phone.

As I play with it more, I will post more articles.

Thanks for reading.

  1. After using this phone now for a few weeks, I've noticed that it does not switch from portrait to landscape well at all. I have recalibrated the phone several times, but it just stinks at trying to switch!

Most of the time I can't get it to switch at all!
  2. Great review. I agree it is a great phone.
